But still I had these random crashes in forms of freezing screen or the screen went black except for small white quarters in the lower right corner.įinally I think I solved the problem: You have to set the size of the texture-cache in the graphic options of the game to a very low number. All the tips and tricks concerning graphics and wine configurations I did.

I had this random crashes also on my iMac. We'll just have to wait until WINE 1.3 is formally released to see. "Native" (not CXG) WINE 1.3 and Pando does work "under" OSX - or so the WINE boards contend. However, the WINE 1.3 version reportedly works with both. How are they different? One example: Turbine's downloads use the Pando Media Booster - which reportedly works under the Linux version of WINE 1.2.x, but does not work under the OSX version. Reportedly, WINE 1.3 does not have that difference. It is possible that with the next release of WINE (1.3.x - probably as CXG 9.3) some or all of these issues may simply "go away."įor example, CXG 9.2.0 is WINE 1.2.1, that version of WINE works differently under Linux than it does under OS X. However, I do tend to lean towards something with the graphics system, and/or possibly audio. So far, I have not managed to "guess" what that "artifact" might be. This also improved my frame rate and overall game performance. So far, I only have two examples where a "clean install" of OSX 10.6.x eliminated ALL the problems - one on my iMac (2007) and one on my MacBook Pro (2008). This "artifact" "conflicts" with WINE in some fashion. My theory is that there is some "artifact" "left over" from the OSX upgrade process, that does not exist in a "clean install."

See my comments at the end of this thread:

I am developing a theory about the problem. Is your OS a clean install of Snow Leopard or an upgrade from Leopard and/or Tiger? I have been having the reported random crashing ever since the f2p I am using MBP early 2008, OSX 10.6.5 and CGX 9.2
